When Michael Snyder hung out the shingle for his new enterprise, Exponential Networks, he was continuing a family legacy.
Snyder comes from a long line of entrepreneurs.
"This is something I always wanted to do," he said. "My grandfather had a deli in the 1940s, my father had his own business and others in my family have had theirs — it's just what my family does."
Snyder willuse his high-tech skills to provide a variety of computer-related services. He brings 11 years of experience to the enterprise.
"I see Exponential Networks as a one-stop shop for small businesses and others needing help with installation, networking, phone systems, network switching, servers and software," Snyder said.
He has done work for East Texas Medical Center in Tyler, Centris Information Services, At Home Healthcare and a number of other East Texas firms.
"I want to help the small- business owner utilize the equipment they already have," he said. "The biggest complaint we hear from our new customers is their previous provider did not listen to their needs."
Snyder said he has worked with businesses in a variety of fields, including manufacturing, legal, health care, call center operations and retail.
Exponential Networks provides both consulting services and complete project management.
"This is what I enjoy," Snyder said. "It will allow me to use what I've learned in the past."
He said his firm emphasizes fast, professional but affordable services available 24 hours a day.
"I just want people to know they have an option," Snyder said.
"From PC installation to complicated networking at multiple locations, we can handle the job."
Among other services provided by Exponential Networks is off-site data backup.
Snyder attended Pine Tree schools before his family moved to Arkansas.
He majored in management information systems at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Ark.
