Jackson brings a lifetime of experience, including 15 years with the Auto Zone chain.
"I had reached the point where there was nowhere else to go," Jackson said. "I'd been an assistant manager and manager and have worked at stores in Longview, Marshall, Gilmer and Ennis," he said.
To give his initial inventory a jump-start, Jackson bought out much of the inventory of a former Hallsville auto parts store and merged it with other lines.
He also is able to get most parts for customers within a few hours if he does not have needed items in stock.
"We carry top of the line brands," Jackson said. Among the brand names are Parts Master, Standard, Wagner brake parts and hardware, Wix filters and more.
Bargain Auto Parts also carries major brand oil such as Quaker State, Pennzoil and Kendall.
The store has other additives and treatments from Prestone, STP and waxes and car care products from ArmorAll and Turtle Wax.
"We have all kinds of belts in stock, even belts for washing machines and bulldozers," Jackson said.
From fuses and light bulbs to wiper blades and fuel and water pumps, Jackson said he probably has what East Texas auto owners need.
"We carry a big selection of help items," he said. Tools include wrenches, socket sets and other specialty items needed for various repairs, Jackson said.
"If we don't have what a person needs in stock, we can usually get it within a couple of hours, including radiators," he said.
Motor and transmission orders can normally be filled in five to seven days.
Jackson said he also carries a wide selection of electronic supplies, from clips and rings to trailer wiring.
"We also have a lot of clearance items," he said of part of the inventory he bought from the closed store.
