SLIDE SHOW

An 18-wheeler carrying oil, an oilfield services pick-up, a sport utility vehicle and an unidentified fourth vehicle were involved. A Department of Public Safety trooper said the SUV was hit from behind.

Witnesses at the scene said the vehicles began to hydroplane on the wet roadway when the initial wreck occurred.

Traffic was stalled on both sides of the wreck for almost two hours before being diverted down a nearby county road.

The exact number of people injured and the extent of the injuries were not immediately known.
