Charm Asks: What’s your all-time favorite movie quote?
Charm asked our readers, “What’s your all-time favorite movie quote?” Here’s what they said:
“My favorite’s from ‘Man of the Year’ with Robin Williams: ‘Politicians are a lot like diapers. They should be changed frequently, and for the same reasons.’ ” Ellen Hankins, Diana
“‘Mawwiage. Mawwiage is what bwings us togevuh … today. Mawwiage, that bwessed awwangement, that dweam within a dweam. Then wuv, twue wuv, will fowwow you fowevuh. So tweasure your wuv.’ The Impressive Clergyman from ‘The Princess Bride’ said this. My husband, who is a minister, once used this quote at a wedding rehearsal to help everyone relax. The bride and groom begged him to include it in the ceremony, and he did.” Gwen Carl, Longview
“I think the best movie quote is from ‘Forrest Gump,’ when he states, ‘Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.’” Kashanna Porter, Longview
“My all-time favorite movie quote is from the 1989 movie, ‘Steel Magnolias.’ Olympia Dukakis’ character Clairee said, ‘If you don’t have anything nice to say about anyone, come sit next to me.’ I love that!” Tracey Dye, Longview
“My favorite quote is from ‘Steel Magnolias.’ Shelby says, ‘I’d rather have thirty minutes of wonderful than a lifetime of nothing special.’” Vicki Spearman, Longview

New East Texans
I’ve lived in Longview all of my life, and it’s refreshing to me when I meet people that are new to the area. Yesterday I met a couple of girls who moved to Longview a few months ago. When I told them a bit of my history, they immediately started asking questions like, “Where are the best restaurants?” and “What do you do for fun?” and “Why don’t you have an accent?” :)
Their main question was: “What are some cool towns or cities to visit that are close-by?”
See, their mission is to explore as much of their new surroundings as possible. They started in Jefferson in October and visited The Tyler Rose Garden after that.
East Texas is literally covered in little “diamond in the rough” spots. Where would you suggest sending these adventure-seeking road trippers?
