Tony Garza re-plants a flag in Austin, working too in Mexico City
Tony Garza, the former Texas official who was the Bush administration’s ambassador to Mexico, has planted a stake in Texas again by signing on with ViaNovo, an Austin-based consulting firm.
Word surfaced today that Garza, who in 2005 married a famously wealthy Mexican businesswoman, María Asunción Aramburuzabala, is also going to work as counsel to a law firm, White & Case LLP, in Mexico City.
On top of the two jobs, Garza has started a personal site here including the kind of unusual photo re-posted
here.
On his site, Garza says he looks forward to staying in touch. I’ll speculate that the site—which includes recent newsletters he’s written — gives him online leeway to explore political opportunities or just sound off. (Yup, it’s way early to sound the trumpets on Garza for Governor, 2014.)
Job No. 1: Garza has joined ViaNovo, a management and communications firm whose owners include onetime Bush strategist Matthew Dowd, as a partner; he’ll also chair ViaNovo Ventures, billed as the firm’s new business enterprise, according to the announcement.
Job No. 2: For White & Case, a press release states, Garza will be part of the firm’s work “advising governments, financial institutions and multinationals as they navigate the often complex legal and regulatory arenas in the United States and Mexico and across Latin America.” The release describes the firm as a global law firm with lawyers in 35 offices in 24 countries.

GARZA IS WHO TEXANS NEED FOR OUR NEXT REPUBLICAN GOVERNOR. HE WILL WIN AND SHOW HISPANICS OTHER THAN WELFARE HISPANICS THAT REPURLICANS ARE THE WAVE OF THE FUTURE.
DEMOCRATS SHOULD NOT SACRIFICE A GREAT SENATOR LIKE WATSON TO RUN FOR GOVERNOR. THEY CANNOT WIN AND THAT WOULD BE A SHAME TO SACRIFICE WATSON. OBAMA IS GOING TO BE SO DESPISED FOR HIS FAILURES BY TWO YEARS ANY DEMOCRAT WILL HAVE A ROUGH TIME CARRYING HIM ON THEIR BACKS. HE IS THE DEMOCRATS NEW JIMMY CARTER. REMEMBER THAT ONE WHEN REAGAN TROMPED HIM? WELL GET READY. IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN TO DEMOCRATS WHEN ROMNEY TROMPS OBAMA AND THROWS AMERICAS BIGGEST FAILURE AS A PRESIDENT IN RECENT MEMORY OUT OF THE WHITE HOUSE.
