Gladewater High graduation
Graduation day for many Gladewater High students was bittersweet.
One of their classmates died in a single-car wreck Friday morning while she was returning home from graduation practice.
Allison Nicole Ray, 18, was killed in the wreck on CR 3111, southwest of Gladewater, said Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Joseph Birt. She was scheduled to graduate Friday night from Gladewater High School. Instead, a white bow adorned the chair where she would have sat. It was a stark contrast to the brightly colored balloons and flowers that dotted the stands.
Share your memories of Allison and wish others well here.

Christine, you and your family are in my prayers. If you are any indication of the character and heart that Allison had, than this world has truly lost something special. I’m so proud of your strength in this difficult time.

My thoughts and prayers are with Allison’s family. I am two years older than Allison and shared Mrs. Grimes class with her when I was in school. Each time you saw Allison, you couldn’t help but smile or laugh because of how sweet and kind she was. She was truly inspirational, not even realizing how much of a difference she made in others’ lives. I pray that God will pour out His peace upon you during this difficult time.

When I heard the news about Allison, it was a HUGE shock!! I was really in disbelief. Just days before the accident we were in Mrs.Grimes class and she was so excited because she got a call that someone had just had a baby. Whenever you would see her she had a smile on her face and a willingness to help. She will be Very missed by all that knew her and all that didnt, but we all know that she’s in a better place. My Prayers are with you, Brittney

Allison will be sorely missed by all who knew her. She had a warm smile for everyone. I remember her coming by my office just to say, “Hi, Miss Kathy!” on so many days, and her sweet nature would cheer me even if I was having a bad day. She genuinely cared about her fellow students welfare. Her mom can be proud of the person she was. I hope that gives you comfort, Paula. I will miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this very sad time when you will have to say good-bye to your sweet daughter. God bless you all.

Although we did not have the pleasure of knowing Allison, we are friends with John and Julie. Our hearts go out, not only to them, but to Allison’s mother and step-father and all of her family and friends. We can’t imagine any pain worse than the death of a child. May God be with you all and help you cope with each painful day. Remember the good days and smiles. Donald and Gail Jones

Let the wind reminds you of Allison’s kisses, The hot weather reminds you how she lights up your life, The soft breeze reminds you of her hug, The stars reminds you that Allison’s just open one window to heaven so all of us left behind will see God’s love, The dripping water reminds you that Allison’s tears, each time she see you cry and ask why? The car engine reminds of you of her spirit, always going and never easy to GIVE UP

Losing someone we love is never easy.I don’t know this angel yet as a mother of four I can only imagine the pain. May God and Allison’s memories come and help you in this time of darkness, and keep the lamp of faith burning in your heart especially now that “WHY?” is stronger than” I don’t understand it Lord, yet I know in time I will but right now Lord let my grief be my strenght.” My family will always include you in our prayers.

On behalf of Allisons dad (John Ray - Longview Police Dept); Allison’s mom (Paula Hiett - GSMC) and Allison’s stepdad (David Hiett), we thank you for your thoughts, prayers and the many, many folks who have called or dropped by to express your sympathy. Please continue to pray for wisdom and strength for all of Allison’s parents, siblings and relatives during this unbelievably painful loss.

I want you to know your daughter is in a place so wonderful we can never imagine. I know this because my only child, Rob, forever 16, is there with her right now. I lost him in a sudden accident this past Oct. 13th.
My prayers are with your family that as time goes on you will find peace. Losing a child is like no other death. I’m still trying to find my peace.

This is just so sad. I did not even know this young girl yet I have tears streaming down my face. I know her family is honored that her classmates had such respect for her as to remember her during the commencement.
