Pittsburg smoking ordinance
Pittsburg is a general law city, which means it cannot adopt ordinances that are not specifically allowed by the Legislature. Under a home rule charter, the city would be able to consider approving a public smoking ban, for instance, such as the one that a local resident was scheduled to propose during Monday’s meeting. That resident, identified on the agenda as Mickey Langford, did not attend Monday’s meeting.
What do you think about having a public smoking ban?

Oh sure everything that is bad for us should be banned! I mean cold turkey, everything, alcohol, smoking, etc. Everything all at once, not something here and something there. I never saw someone smoke a cigarette and beat on their wife or kids or commit some other crime. Would you rather be killed by a drunk driver or sit by someone smoking a cigarette? So just get rid of it all I say! While your at it dont you think something should be done about illegal drugs too. Oh yeah that is against the law. Hummmm. The whole thing is laughable.

Even though I believe in less government interference in our daily lives and the lives of business, the only way any smoking ban is fair, is statewide. Eventually, smoking will be banned nationwide.
But, I view this as the sign ordinance, tree ordinances, etc. If you don’t like it, take another route or go somewhere else. The free market should decide.
What is next trans fat? etc.
