Mobility board backs Amtrak to DFW

Catching a flight out of the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport might become a bit less of a hassle for East Texans who don’t like to navigate the congested city highways.

The board of directors of the North East Texas Regional Mobility Authority officially threw its support behind the push to have Amtrak establish a stop at the CentrePort/DFW airport station.

Would you ride Amtrak to the DFW Airport?

Many of my trips involve a combination of Amtrak and flying in/out of DFW Airport. Since the Trinity Railway Express does not operate trains from Dallas and Fort Worth to the DFW on Sundays, it results in a broken connection - and an expensive taxi ride. Re-routing Amtrak’s Texas Eagle AND Heartland Flyer would bring two Sunday round-trips per day to Centreport/DFW at a minimal cost.

YES!! YES!! This is a much better use of my tax dollars than squandering it on more roads.

Your tax dollars support sidewalks that go no where, medians that serve no purpose, ball parks when you have no children, and the list can go on and on.

Public Transportation is ALWAYS supported by tax dollars. It is not a for profit organizaion, here in the US or ANY OTHER country.

Most opponents have never even traveled by train. The train is full of retirees, low income, and disadvantaged people. It is very efficient transportation. Only because of Natalie Rabicoff’s political connections and her drive to keep Amtrak alive in Longview is it still here.

Yes, I think it would be great to be able ride Amtrack to DFW. Recent weather made travel between Longview Reginal and DFW a very tiring affair. I also think it might be useful to ride Amtrack to the Dallas medical facilities if the different hospitals would provide shuttle service to and from the Amtrack station.
