Only 2 ET counties will see money
Money to control the feral hog population is headed to East Texas; however, most counties won’t see a dime of it..
East Texas Council of Governments chairman Bill Hale, who is also Rusk County precinct 1 commissioner, said about 75 to 80 percent of $1 million will be dispersed in feral hog trapping and hunting funds to the eastern half of the state.
In East Texas, only Anderson and Henderson counties will receive any state funding. This was decided at an Aug. 28 meeting, which included representatives from the Corn Producers Association of Texas, the Texas Department of Agriculture and the Texas Farm Bureau, was called to discuss problems caused by the rapidly growing feral hog population throughout the state.
Should these funds be available to more counties?
