Business strong locally at consignment stores
The nation’s economy might be struggling, but secondhand retailers around Longview say those troubles are no excuse for not having nice things.
Kim Skelton of White Oak started shopping at thrift stores long before the economic crisis. She’s been a thrift-store shopper for 26 years, buying and selling as opportunities have presented themselves.
“You can purchase a better-made garment at a lesser price from a resale shop than you would spend to make it,” Skelton said.
When her two children, now 19 and 27, were younger, Skelton turned thrift store purchases into consignments as a way to afford to remain a stay-at-home mom.
Are you buying more used items to offset the economic crunch?

OMG, Encore is my new favorite place to shop!
I find things there you would have to shop in Dallas to find.
I love that place!

I love consignment shps especially the way today’s economy is. I shop at a place called Encore behind Chili’s on the loop. I cant beleive the quality and the pricing for name brand clothing. I may never shop at Dillards again!
