Longview saves money on two school projects
Bids for at least two Longview Independent School District building projects are about $180,000 lower than earlier predictions, administrators said Wednesday.
Trustees approved a $28.17 million guaranteed maximum price for constructing a new Forest Park Middle School. The campus is scheduled to be built directly north of the Eastman Road/Alpine Street intersection beginning in spring.
RLM Contractors is managing the construction. RLM President Bob Metzler said the guaranteed price is about $104,000 less than what administrators thought a new Forest Park would cost.
Trustees selected Kaufman-area demolition contractor Loyd Neighbors to demolish the former Hudson PEP campus on Lilly Street for $173,000 — about $77,000 less than officials’ initial forecast.
How do you feel about the current prices?
