Designers are coming out with all kinds of cute, trendy clothes for the planet-concious gal. Charm stopped by Longview?s Dillard?s, Denim Lounge and That Girl?s Boutique to see what clothing and accessory lines are available to those of you who want to help out Mother Earth.

But first, let?s look at the alternative "threads" that hold these new fashions together.

Organic cotton is better for the environment for a few reasons; namely, no pesticides, herbicides, insecticides or chemical fertilizers were used while growing the crop.

Not only is this great for Mother Earth, but it's great for your skin! When it comes time to dress in your organic cotton clothing, you may notice it's softer and, of course, there aren't any latent chemicals that might disagree with your skin. This extra comfort is an added bonus when considering all of the benefits for the planet.

Bamboo It may seem strange to think these tall, thick plants can turn into a soft, trendy piece of clothing, but it's true! Bamboo makes a great fabric for many, many reasons.

It's actually softer than cotton with a texture comparable to silk, and its fiber is anti-bacterial, so your garment is always odor-free. Whether you're out for a jog in the park or out dancing at a smoky club, your bamboo clothes will continue smelling fresh!

Also, it's a highly renewable, fast-growing grass. Naturally resistant to all bacteria and microbes, there is no need for pesticides or chemicals during the growth process.

Hemp plants grow very quickly and densely, making it difficult for weeds to grab onto them, and they're highly pest-resistant. This eliminates the need for herbicides and artificial fertilizers.Hemp also is completely biodegradable!

The anti-microbial hemp fabric stays fresh, softens with wearing and is exceptionally breathable. Clothing made from hemp or hemp blends is more temperature versatile and less seasonal, making it a good choice year-round. Hemp fibers are longer, stronger, more absorbent and more mildew-resistant than cotton. Also, it can be made into a variety of fabrics, including linen quality.
