MELANIE AND BLAKE MARTIN OF LONGVIEW
Mosaic Seed Art
You'll need:
Wax paper
Pumpkin seeds or other white seeds
Art paper – heavy posterboard or canvas board
Tempera powder paint or paint, assorted colors
Pencil to draw sketch
Directions:
Choose the colors you will be using for the project. Put some seeds into a bowl of water to get the seeds wet. Then, put some of the wet seeds into a bowl and sprinkle tempera powder paint over them. Jiggle the seeds to get them mixed in with the color, and do this for each color you will be using (or, squirt a small amount of tempera paint into the bowl and mix the seeds around until they're covered with the desired color). Place seeds on a piece of wax paper or foil to dry. Draw a simple picture sketch on the canvas board or thick art paper in pencil. After the picture is complete, glue the colored seeds to the appropriate spaces on the pencil drawing. Allow time to dry before mounting or hanging.
