Take a look inside your makeup bag. What do you see? Your favorite tube of black mascara, some sexy red lipstick and a bottle of liquid foundation, perhaps? Now take a good, hard look at what's really inside that bag. Study all the ingredients that go into making those products. Is your makeup really made up of chemicals and preservatives you want to put on your face?

Longview resident Sandra Watson's makeup was applied by Stacy Conner, a local esthetician. Stacy used her favorite like of all-natural cosmetics, Mineral Fusion, to bring out the beauty of Sandra's skin. Charm sat down with Stacy Conner, a licensed esthetician at Amazing Face in Longview, to discuss the benefits of going au naturale.

You may be reluctant to try it at first, maybe because it's difficult to part with your favorites or because organic items tend to be a bit pricey. But trust us, it's worth it.

Amazing Face

Stacy has been an esthetician in Longview for four years, and she has always used all-natural products with her customers.

"I've always done organic makeup because I believe in all the healing aspects of organic makeup," she said. "My focus and my motto here at Amazing Face is 'change your skin from within.' When I meet with a person, I find out what her lifestyle and habits are like. People need to be putting good things into their bodies and good things onto their faces."

However, she warned, when shopping for an all-natural skincare line, read carefully the ingredients that go into the makeup that you buy. If you see the word "parabens" listed, stay away!

"These are chemicals widely used as preservatives in many cosmetics out there, and studies have shown that parabens have been linked to cancer," Stacy said.

Mineral Fusion

Stacy's product of choice is Mineral Fusion Cosmetics, a brand available through Whole Foods, Inc. that is not only clean and pure, but also protects your skin.

"Organic cosmetics aren't just makeup products; they're skincare products," she said. "They can help you with a skin ailment, be it acne, rosacea, aging skin, etc. These products work with your body's chemistry to enhance your beauty and heal your skin."

The mixture of ingredients infused in Mineral Fusion such as white tea, pomegranate and other anti-oxidants is designed to give your skin the ultimate skincare protection.

"This line is literally a product from the earth, so it's oil-free and offers protection against environmental conditions and stresses," Stacy said. "It's also water-resistant, so you can sweat and not worry about your pores getting clogged. And, it's a natural sunblock."
