Longview resident Beckie Fuller, 57, decided to do a little something different to her eyelashes. She called up a local doctor's office to see about getting extensions!
Here's what she thought about the experience:
"When I first thought about getting eyelash extensions, I pictured the false eyelashes you might see at the drugstore, and I thought that would be a little dramatic for me. But I hadn't seen anyone with them that I knew of, so I decided to start asking about them. When I called to make my appointment, the receptionist at the doctor's office let me know that this procedure would be fun, and it would leave me looking natural, if that's the look I desired.
The aesthetician who would apply my lashes called me after I made the appointment to answer all of my questions, as did the doctor who supervised her work. They were all very reassuring. Even though it was close to Halloween, I wanted a natural look, not a look for a crazy costume.
I believe most women who have these extensions do so for a special occasion, such as a prom or wedding, but many just get them for the fun of it, and they can choose from lash colors such as purple, red or pink. I chose black.
The aesthetician glued the extensions on my own eyelashes. She applied 30 lashes to each eye. Besides the color choice, I had to decide if I wanted the regular or the extra thick – I chose regular. The procedure took about two hours, and, as you can imagine, it was tedious work. I enjoyed just lying there being pampered. I was given instructions when I left about not getting them wet for at least 12 hours, and I was told they last longer if I don't take any steamy showers or baths. They should last me 14-20 days.
They really are so pretty, and it doesn't even feel like I'm wearing any extensions on my lashes. The only time I notice is when I look into my mirror! They may not be good for someone with allergies, but they work great for me, and I really like them!"
