Rent, PG-13
"'525,600 minutes. How do you measure the life of a woman or a man?’
Ever hear about a 'rock opera’ that became an instant sensation? Would the playwright’s unexpected death before its theatrical premiere entice you a little more? Let me introduce you to the film adaptation of a group of bohemian friends surviving the year amidst their various real-life struggles. This story celebrates the power of redeeming love, making this semi-autobiographical work a true legacy."

Mamma Mia, PG-13
"When 'Mamma Mia!’ first came out in theaters, I saw it twice because it was so good! It’s the story of a young girl about to be married who wants to find out who her father is so he can walk her down the aisle. The only problem is there are 3 possibilities!
This is a real 'feel good’ movie that is also a musical, so there is plenty of singing and dancing, and the ABBA songs are classics. It’s a great chick flick to go see with your girlfriends. I loved it!"
Denise Bolton, Longview
Swing Vote, PG-13
"I thought Kevin Costner was hilarious but still a very believable character. So many of us have lost faith in the election system or just feel our vote is insignificant. This story inspires people and helps them realize that every vote counts!
His daughter was an inspirational character, as kids tend to be in real life. Her enthusiasm for her civic duty was wonderful. The whole story plays out enjoyably funny, poking fun at both the Democrat and the Republican parties, the media and all citizens. It doesn’t take sides politically, and it delivers a great message."

Doing Good by Pamela Morsi
"Raised by a single, working class mother, young Jane dreamed of better things. So, as an adult, she acquired money, a beautiful home, a country club membership and all the social status she had dreamed of. Now she was 'doing good’; however, her husband was unfaithful, her child was in therapy and, despite Jane’s best efforts, she blamed her mother for every discontent in her own life.
Then one day Jane breaks a fingernail. The following 20 minutes change her life forever. Trapped in a burning car, Jane pleads desparately, 'Please don’t let me die trapped in here! Help me please and I will do good the rest of my life!’ Suddenly 'doing good’ and 'doing good’ are not the same thing to Jane.
A great book like this stays with you for a long time. The wonderful things Jane discovers about life, love, being happy and doing good will stay with you always."

For Women Only by Shaunti Feldhahn
"What woman hasn't asked the question: 'What was he thinking?!' 'For Women Only’ by Shaunti Feldhahn attempts to answer that question as the author takes a candid look into the minds of men. With survey answers from men across the nation, the book sheds revealing light and uncovers truths about how men really think.
As I read this book I could definitely recognize the behaviors and attitudes described as some of the same I have witnessed in my own husband. I even conducted my own personal survey with him as the guinea pig! This book is spot-on and will help you better understand the man in your life."

The Shack by William P. Young
"In recent months it seems that everywhere I turned, I found someone reading 'The Shack.’ I was asked if I had read it yet, and often with teary eyes the reader would urge me to get a copy and read it. My daughter came to visit, and she asked if I had read it. She left me a copy.
By this time, I eagerly started the journey through the book. Let me just say, it is a book of the heart. The author writes with words and descriptions that opened my eyes to see important matters of life in a new and fresh way. I learned anew that God’s love is unconditional and strong, forgiveness is costly, choices are difficult and God is present in the midst of our sufferings. On a personal note, the setting is in my home state of Oregon, and the geographic places named are actual places I know well. The story is fiction, but seems quite real as it draws you into its depths. If you take the time to read this book, the content will linger in your thoughts and heart for a long time. It has mine."
