THE WOODLANDS — The Woodlands put on another impressive offensive display on Friday to complete a sweep of a Texas Collegiate League series against the East Texas Pump Jacks with a 10-7 win at Strykers Stadium.
The Strykers (18-30, 9-9) scored 25 runs in the two games, notching a 15-5 win over the Pump Jacks (23-24, 8-9) on Thursday.
East Texas had leads of 1-0, 2-1 and 4-1 in the contest, but the Strykers used a three-run home run by Dalton Perry to get back in the game and eventually built a 10-4 cushion before holding on for the 10-7 win.
Joey Armstrong reached on a fielder’s choice and stole a base, moving to third on a single by Mitch Meyer and stealing home to give the Pump Jacks a 1-0 lead in the first.
After the Strykers tied the contest at 1-1 on an RBI single by Connor Kalisky in the second, Nate Esposito’s RBI single put East Texas back in front in the top of the fifth inning.
Mark Mathias blasted a two-run home run for the Pump Jacks in the sixth to push the lead to 4-1, but Perry homered and Kalisky added another RBI single in a big sixth inning to put the Strykers in front to stay.
The Pump Jacks will travel to Brazos Valley to face the league-leading Bombers in four straight games. The teams will play tonight and Sunday, take Monday off and then play again Tuesday and Wednesday.
