A Marshall man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after he allegedly barricaded himself inside his home in the 1800 block of South Garrett Street.
James Michael Tinker, 32, was arrested for an emergency detention warrant following a brief standoff with police, said Det. Sonya Johnson, spokeswoman for the Marshall Police Department, in a statement.
At 12:52 p.m., the Marshall Police Department sent officers to the area of Tinker's home in reference to a man "who had barricaded himself up inside his residence and was allegedly armed."
When officers arrived, Tinker's identity was revealed. It was also discovered he was armed with a rifle and several magazines of ammunition, according to the statement.
The officers were able keep the situation from escalating, and Tinker surrendered his weapon, leaving the house without incident.
