Forty-eight staff members within the 14 Workforce Solutions East Texas centers have been notified their last day of work will be Friday.
The reduction in force is a result of the agency's state and federal funding dropping by about $1 million each of the past two budget years, according to East Texas Council of Governments spokeswoman Lindsay Vanderbilt. ETCOG is the administering agency of Workforce Solutions East Texas.
The reduction includes 11 layoffs in Gregg County, five layoffs in Harrison County, four layoffs in Rusk County and two layoffs each in Panola, Camp and Wood counties. One Marion County employee also will be laid off.
