The Camp County Commissioners Court scheduled a special meeting at 8:30 a.m. Monday to consider acceptance of the district clerk's resignation.
Camp County Judge Thomas Cravey said District Clerk Mignon Clark submitted her resignation Thursday in a letter, saying she was resigning for personal reasons effective Oct. 29, 2009.
Clark has served as district clerk since 2005, Cravey said. In that capacity, she assists Judge Jimmy L. White of the 76th District Court and Judge William R. Porter of the 276th District Court.
Both judges declined to comment on Clark's resignation.
Efforts to reach Clark on Friday were unsuccessful.
White said if commissioners accept Clark's resignation, he and Porter will select a nominee to present to the court.
The court will most likely appoint whomever the district judges suggest, Cravey said.
Cravey said that person would likely serve as clerk until the next general election, he said.
"This is a county position, but the clerk works for the district judges, so we would want them to be comfortable with the choice that is made," Cravey said.
