Kilgore ISD Superintendent Jody Clements was hired Wednesday as Longview ISD’s assistant superintendent for administrative and pupil services.
Clements was hired as Kilgore ISD’s superintendent in February 2008. The Kilgore school board has called a special meeting 5:30 p.m. Thursday to consider accepting his resignation. His last day in Kilgore will be Sept. 14 and his first day in Longview will be Sept. 17.
“It’s a great feeling to leave the district on good terms and have accomplished all we have accomplished in just four short years,” Clements said. “Kilgore ISD is still a part of me. Kilgore ISD staff and board are special to me. I love Kilgore; it is my home. We did things no one thought we could do.”
Clements will be filling a spot that was vacated in late-2011, following the retirement of Jennifer Scott. He will be overseeing various areas of Longview ISD, including safety, public records and grants. Clements also plans to continue the pursuit of his doctorate — something he had to put on hold because of the time constraints of being superintendent.
“Longview ISD is charged with providing the highest possible world class education for all students who attend our district,” Interim Superintendent James Wilcox said. “Cutting edge educational programs such as our IB (International Baccalaureate) and early college high school require that we employ the best and brightest in the field of education. Jody Clements fits the role.”
Clements’ wife Courtney will continue to be employed by Kilgore ISD and his son will continue to attend Kilgore schools, Clements said.
