The Lindale Lady Eagles’ successful basketball season came to a close Tuesday night at the hands of Pittsburg , 44-41, in a Class 3A Region II quarterfinal playoff contest.
Staring at a 16-point deficit with just over six minutes left in the second period, Lindale High School’s Lady Eagles roared to life and left Mount Vernon in the dust to claim a 68-56 Class 3A area basketball playoff win Friday (Feb. 17) at Spring Hill High School in Longview.
With a 70-39 rout of Rains on Tuesday, the Lindale Eagles finished their District 14-3A season with an unbeaten record.
The Lindale Lady Eagles, having drawn a bye in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs, are scheduled to play the winner of the Mount Vernon-Gilmer bi-district basketball game in the area round, which begins Thursday, Feb. 16.
With three of four teams registering wins, the Lindale Junior High School girls basketball teams completed another successful season on Thursday (Feb. 9).
The Lindale High School varsity and junior varsity tennis teams are scheduled to compete in the Ennis High School tournament today and Friday, head coach Toby Watson said.

Five Lindale High School football players – Sam Schomp, Micah Simmons, Clay Price, Donte Marsh and Matt Foote -- signed letters of intent on Wednesday, Feb. 1 to continue their careers in college.
NEW CHAPEL HILL – The Lindale Eagles soccer team got off on the right foot in District 31-4A action Tuesday (Jan. 31) with a 3-1 victory over the Chapel Hill Bulldogs.
VAN – The Lindale Eagles boys basketball team had to overcome a first period deficit to defeat the Van Vandals, 53-43, in District 14-3A action Tuesday (Jan. 31) night.
Lindale’s Lady Eagles high school basketball team won its 10th game in a row Tuesday night over Van, 67-35, but is currently under the guidance of assistant Rene Greenhill after the suspension earlier this week of head coach Greg Strawn.
It took the better part of three and a half quarters, but the Lindale Lady Eagles were able to finally subdue the Rains Lady Wildcats, 55-53, Friday night (Jan. 27) in the LHS gym for their 20th victory of the season and their seventh in District 14-3A action.
Breaking out to a 23-7 lead after the first period, the Lindale Eagles boys basketball team took the measure of the Rains Wildcats, 72-30, Friday night (Jan. 27) in the high school gym in District 14-3A action.
Lindale’s Junior High School girls basketball teams took four wins against Rains Junior High last week in action at Rains Junior High School.
With senior post Jordan Van De Kop leading the way with 30 points, the Lindale Eagles stopped the Quinlan Ford Panthers, 55-45, Friday (Jan. 20) in the high school gym.
Grabbing three of four possible wins, the Lindale Junior High girl’s basketball team took care of Rains’ Lady Wildcats on Jan. 19.
CANTON – Leading in all four quarters, the Lindale Lady Eagles dispatched Canton, 41-32, Tuesday night to secure their fourth straight District 14-3A win and their 17th overall.
The Lindale Eagles boys basketball team jumped out to a positive start to the District 14-3A wars Friday (Jan. 13) night by defeating Van, 54-40 in the high school gym.
With a first place group finish in the Forney High School soccer tournament, the Lindale High School boys soccer team improved its season record to 3-1-1.
The Lindale Lady Eagles basketball team improved its District 14-3A record to 2-0 by defeating the Rains Lady Wildcats, 71-50, in Emory Tuesday night.
Jumping out to a clean start in District 14-3A play, the Lindale Lady Eagles took down the Wills Point Lady Tigers, 78-34, Friday, Jan. 6 in the high school gym.
The Lindale Junior High School Girls 7th and 8th grade basketball teams hosted its Lindale Tournament Jan. 5-7 in the junior high school gym with the A and B teams coming away with wins.
TYLER – The Robert E. Lee Lady Raiders built a double-digit lead after one period, expanded it in the second period and cruised to a 70-53 victory over the Lindale Lady Eagles Thursday in the third-place game of the Cougar Patriot Girls Holiday Basketball Tournament held at the University of Texas at Tyler.
Lindale’s Eagles were outscored by 11 points in the fourth period which led to a 61-47 defeat at the hands of the Whitehouse Wildcats in the semifinals of the Gold Bracket of the Floyd Wagstaff Holiday Classic Thursday night at Tyler Junior College.
TYLER – After taking a one point lead at the half, the Lindale Lady Eagles were unable to hang on in the third period and fell to the John Tyler Lady Lions, 51-46, in the semifinals of the Cougar Patriot Holiday Basketball Classic held at the University of Texas at Tyler.
TYLER -- With senior post Jordan Van De Kop scoring a game-high 28 points, the Lindale Eagles defeated Mabank’s Panthers, 62-51, Wednesday afternoon during first round action of the Floyd Wagstaff Holiday Basketball Classic at Tyler Junior College.
TYLER – Lindale’s Lady Eagles secured two wins on Tuesday and was scheduled to take on John Tyler’s Lady Lions today in the Cougar Patriot Holiday Basketball Tournament held at the University of Texas at Tyler.
Lindale’s Junior High School’s girl’s basketball teams took on Canton Monday (Dec. 12) night and came home with two wins in four games.
EDGEWOOD – Fighting from behind, the Lindale Lady Eagles secured their sixth straight victory Thursday night by defeating Frankston, 69-49, in the Edgewood Varsity Girls Basketball tournament.
BROWNSBORO – Jordan Van De Kop poured in 37 points and the Lindale Eagles opened up a tight game after halftime to beat Fort Worth Zion, 62-53, in the opening round of the Great East Texas Shootout Basketball tournament at Brownsboro High School.
Doubling up the Pine Tree Pirates after one period, the Lindale High School Eagles boys basketball team captured their seventh win of the season with a 61-31 decision Tuesday night in the high school gym.
