Two Longview residents were killed Monday in an early morning one-vehicle crash that caused the car to split in half from the impact.
Longview police spokeswoman Kristie Brian said 20-year-old Alonso Rivera and 22-year-old Jose Cervantes died at the scene of the crash in the 300 block of Pine Tree Road, and a third man was transported to an area hospital for life-threatening injuries after being ejected from the vehicle.
The vehicle was traveling southbound on Pine Tree Road when the driver ran off the road, hit a parked car and then struck a metal pole. Brian said the car was cut in half from impact. Officers believe excessive speed played a factor in the crash.
