The City of Longview Parks and Recreation Department will host the Dog Days of Summer from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
The special dog swim event will be held at Longview Swim Center, 1111 W. Fairmont. The cost will be $3 per dog and owners will enter free of charge.
A free tennis ball will be given to the first 50 dogs, according to Seth Pyle, recreation manager for the city.
"It's been a busy summer at the pools this year with temperatures being so hot," Pyle said. "The Dog Days of Summer event is a really fun way to close out the summer pool season."
Dogs must have tags and show proof of current rabies vaccinations to enter the pool, Pyle said. Any dog showing aggression or a female in season will not be allowed in the pool.
Owners may wade in the pool but will be asked not to swim. Owners should also ensure their dog is on a leash when not in the water.
