An eight-inch water main ruptured this morning causing water to gush from an area on FM 14 near Veteran's Memorial Park in Hawkins.
No residents are without service, but service will be stopped to about 670 customers when service on the line begins.
According to Janis Smith, Hawkins City Secretary, repairs cannot begin until ordered equipment arrives. City crews are expected to be working all night.
"Exxon must uncover a pipeline located in the same area as the eight-inch water lines before the city crews can try to repair the water lines buried 12- to 14-foot deep. Exxon has not uncovered their pipeline yet," Smith said.
The City of Hawkins does not know how long it will take to repair the leak.
