<strong>Santa Land</strong>

LINDALE - Santa Land, the drive-through Christmas lights display just off Interstate 20 near Lindale, is open 6 to 10:30 nightly through Jan. 4. Admission is $20 per car or $30 per commercial van with a limit of 15 people. For information, call (903) 882-1518.

<strong>Wonderland of Lights</strong>

MARSHALL - The 25th annual Wonderland of Lights continues through Jan. 1.

More than a million lights will shine on Marshall's town square, historical courthouse and a wonderland of attractions planned in the 40-day festival. New attractions include the world's biggest rocking horse, a 37-foot-tall mountain for sledding and two outdoor ice skating rinks, one for families and one for just for kids. Double-decker bus tours and Clydesdale-drawn carriage rides are also offered.

<strong>Christmas parades</strong>

<strong>Longview:</strong> The Christmas parade The Christmas parade will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday along Methvin Street downtown..

<strong>Carthage:</strong> The 65th annual Panola County Christmas Parade will be held 7 p.m. Monday in downtown Carthage. The theme is Home for Christmas.

<strong>Gladewater:</strong> The Gladewater Chamber of Commerce's annual Christmas parade is 6 p.m. Tuesday. It begins at Broadway and East Pacific avenues, and will end at Commerce Street.

<strong>Marshall:</strong> The Marshall Christmas parade begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday on Bolivar Street near the old city hall, makes a big circle and ends on East Houston Street.

<strong>Hallsville:</strong> The Christmas parade in Hallsville will begin at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 8 at the North Elementary School on Texas Hatley Parkway and will end at the city park on Pine Street.

<strong>Cowboy concert</strong>

Michael Martin Murphy will join the Longview Symphony for a "Cowboy Christmas" concert at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the S.E. Belcher Chapel and Performance Center, 2100 S. Mobberly Ave., Longview.

<strong>Jefferson home tours</strong>

JEFFERSON - The annual Candlelight Tour of Homes in Jefferson is Thursday and Saturday and Dec. 8 to 10.

Four historical homes adorned with trimmings of the Victorian era with fresh greenery and candlelight will be on the tour. Free concerts will be presented each evening at the historical Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Tours are 3 to 7 p.m. Thursdays and 5 to 9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Tickets are $15 for adults and $2 for children.

The Ghost of Christmas Past Home Tours are Dec. 17.

<strong>Kilgore home tour</strong>

KILGORE - The Kilgore Historical Preservation Foundation's Holiday Happenings in Historic Homes tour is 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday.

Two historic homes and a landmark Kilgore church will welcome visitors.

The tour features the 1930s Bronstad-Dane-Whitehouse home at 1211 Andrews; the Adams Homestead at 14596 N. FM 2276; and the St. Paul's Episcopal Church at 314 U.S. 259.

Admission is $8, and tickets are on sale at each location. Proceeds benefit the Meadowbrook Historic Neighborhood project in Kilgore.

<strong>Gregg County Courthouse</strong>

Christmas at the Courthouse will be 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and Dec. 9 and 10 in downtown Longview.

The lighting of the Christmas tree will be at 6:15 p.m. Thursday. Other activities include Christmas movies on the courthouse lawn, Snow Hill, Santa and Mrs. Claus, the North Pole letter drop and wagon rides.

<strong>North Pole Express</strong>

Longview World of Wonders North Pole Express tickets are on sale.

The children's imaginary trips to the North Pole will be taking on passengers at 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and Dec. 9 and 10 at the former Pine Tree ISD Administration building at the corner of Fairmont Street and Northwest Drive in Longview.

Children ages 2 to 10 with accompanying parent will help save Christmas during this imaginary trip to the North Pole. They will see Santa, drink hot cocoa, sing and dance during this story inspired by "The Polar Express."

<strong>Pittsburg activities</strong>

PITTSBURG - "Tis the Season" begins Friday with Carols in the Park from 6 to 9 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 115 Mount Pleasant St.

This display of 21 Christmas trees depicts the story of Christ. The church sanctuary will be decorated and open for touring, and a live nativity will be featured on the front lawn of the church.

Carols in the Park will continue from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Activities continue Saturday with arts and crafts vendors and bounce houses.

Musical entertainment begins at 10 a.m. at the gazebo at Pendergrass Park with the dulcimer chorus, the Pittsburg High School band and "Christmas Karaoke." Mrs. Claus will be on hand at 11:30 a.m. for storytime, and Santa will make an appearance from noon to 1:30 p.m.

The Tour of Homes is set from 1 to 5 p.m Sunday. Tickets are $10. The headquarters for the tour is The Abernathy House, 406 Quitman St. Other homes are"The Elf House," 325 Quitman; The J.A. Bailey house, 315 Quitman; Ann Reeves's house, 237 Quitman; and Ancestral Acres, 2661 FM 1519.

<strong>Rangerettes show</strong>

KILGORE - "Christmas with a Kick," featuring the Kilgore College Rangerettes, is set for 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Dodson Auditorium. Tickets go on sale Nov. 30.

Tickets are $10 and will be on sale through Friday at the Rangerette Box Office, the first floor of the Rangerette Gym on campus. Remaining tickets will be sold at the door.

Dance groups featured in the show include the Kilgore High School Hi-Steppers, Jazz Technique by Tempe, Elite Dance Center, In-Step Dance Studios and Tap 'n' Toe Dance Studio.

<strong>Living history</strong>

The Living History Christmas exhibit with family entertainment at the holiday village and model train exhibit will be 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Gregg County Historical Museum, 214 N. Fredonia St. in Longview. Children can decorate paper stockings in the Elf Workshop and gingerbread man cookies in Mrs. Claus' Kitchen.

<strong>LMFA activities</strong>

Breakfast with Santa will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Longview Museum of Fine Arts. Tickets are $20.

Toyland, the holiday tea room and market, is set from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 6 to 9. Food will be catered by Perfect Blend Catering. Tickets are $20 each.

The Progressive Dinner Party is scheduled at 6 p.m. Dec. 15 at four homes decorated for the holidays in the Yates/Hillcrest/Inwood neighborhood. Tickets are limited to 75 people and are $125 for the general public.

<strong>Fort Worth orchestra</strong>

FORT WORTH -The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestr a has scheduled Christmas-themed programs.

Handel's "Messiah" is 7:30 p.m. Monday. The orchestra joins forces with the Southwestern Seminary Master Chorale in Bass Performance Hall. Tickets are $19 to $65.

"Christmas with the von Trapp Children" is slated for 7:30 p.m. Dec. 21.

The von Trapp children, the great-grandchildren of Captain and Maria von Trapp, present a traditional seasonal songs and favorites from "The Sound of Music." Tickets are $29 to $78.

<strong>ETBU concert</strong>

East Texas Baptist University's "Christmas in Marshall: A Concert of the Season" is set for 7:30 p.m. Dec. 9 in the Baker Auditorium of the Ornelas Spirtual Life Center on campus.

The ETBU Symphonic Band, Concert Choir, Chapel Choir, University Singers and University Ringers handbell ensemble will perform a wide variety of well-know Christmas melodies.

<strong>Jarvis concert</strong>

The Jarvis College Concert Choir along with the Gospel Choir will present "Christmas in Song and Verse" at 7 p.m. Dec. 8 in the Smith Howard Chapel on campus.

The program will include poetry, carols and spirituals as well as Christmas choral selections.

<strong>SFA</strong> <strong>activities</strong>

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin School of Music will kick of its holiday events with Glan Carlo Menotti's "Amahl and the Night Visitors" at 9 and 11 a.m. Friday and 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Cole Concert Hall.

The School of Theatre's music cabaret troupe will present "A Real Hometown Family Christmas Special" at 7:30 p.m. Friday; 3 and 9 p.m. Saturday; and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Cole Art Center, 329 E. Main St.

The School of Music's "Percussion in the Pines" will be at 7:30 Dec. 6 in the Cole Concert Hall.

The SFA choirs and orchestra, and the Nacogdoches Community Chorus will present Handel's "Messiah" at 7:30 on Dec. 9 in W.M. Turner Auditorium.

Eileen Ivers and her band, Immigrant Soul, will perform "An Nollaig: An Irish Christmas" at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 16 in the W.M. Turner Auditorium.

<strong>Lamb Of God tour</strong>

BULLARD - Andrew Peterson's 2011 Behold the Lamb Of God Christmas Tour is set for 7 p.m. Dec. 7 at Bushman at Kiepersol, 7565 FM 2493 in Bullard.

Ivan Parker concert

TYLER - The Ivan Parker Christmas concert is 7 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Westwood Baptist Church, 820 N.W. Loop 323, Tyler.

Advance tickets are $15 at Lifeway Bookstore, U.S. 259 in Longview. Tickets are $20 at the door or $20 at the door. Children 12 and younger are admitted free.

<strong>New Year's Eve activities</strong>

<strong>BALLROOM DANCING:</strong> The East Texas Ballroom Dance Association's New Year's Eve Big Band Spectacular is 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Dec. 31 at Maude Cobb Convention Center, 100 Grand Blvd., Longview. <strong>FORT WORTH:</strong> The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra will ring in 2012 with "Swingin' in the New Year," an evening of swing and big-band favorites led by guest conductor Jeff Tyzik and vocalist Carmen Bradford.
