Adults wishing to pursue higher education will have the opportunity to receive assistance in their endeavors Thursday at New Life Community Outreach's 2nd Annual College Opportunity/Orientation Meeting.

The meeting will provide prospective, nontraditional students with information about the opportunities available to assist them in obtaining a college degree or professional certificate.

Kilgore, Panola,Vista and Jarvis Christian colleges as well as LeTourneau University and the University of Texas will be some of the schools represented at the meeting.

Representatives will be at the event to answer questions.

After doing a follow-up with this past year's attendees, Mattie Thompson, pastor of New Life Community Church, found that four of the 50 people who attended the meeting enrolled in college.

This year, the meeting will have more recruiters.

In addition, officials from East Texas Educational Opportunity Center will be available to advise people on how to obtain monies, including grants, scholarships and loans, to fund their college career.

For information, contact Thompson at (903)736-7566.
