A Gilmer man was sentenced Tuesday to nine years in prison on federal drug charges.
Charles David McWhorter, 38, was convicted in November of buying cold pills containing pseudoephedrine at four Longview drug stores with the intent to make methamphetamine, or speed, according to U.S. Attorney John Bales.
The purchases all occurred on July 31, 2009, Bales reported.
McWhorter pleaded guilty to the charges this past fall.
