When LeTourneau University honors student Julia Thurber recently shaved her head because of chemotherapy for Stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma, she was a little apprehensive, but soon discovered she wasn't going through this struggle alone.
Several LeTourneau students also shaved their heads last week to show their support for the freshman mechanical engineering major from the Fort Worth area.
They even donated their cut hair to the same non profit group that provided Thurber with a free wig.
Thurber writes in her Caring Bridge blog post - www.caringbridge.org/visit/sunshower - that she "is trusting God to heal her." She writes that she misses her friends at LeTourneau and that there are days when she's scared, but she trusts that God is always in control and is taking care of her.
"When I saw them on Skype that night, I was greeted by my smiling, bald-headed brothers and sisters in Christ," Thurber said. "It was a remarkable display of God's love in human form."
