Sheriff's weekly reminders

Upshur County Sheriff Anthony Betterton reminds people to use extra caution with school starting back on Aug. 27.

"Remember to stop for school buses loading and unloading children, obey the speed limits in the school zones, do not use cell phones in school zones and for parents to allow themselves a little extra time dropping off and picking their children up from school," Betterton said. "We want the first days of school to be happy ones and to avoid any mishaps."

Betterton also encouraged people to report any suspicious activity in their area because the information can help to solve crimes where they live.
