Longview police have arrested a second person in connection with a Monday night robbery that left a Longview teen dead.
Robert Acles, 17, drove Xavier Ray Ward, 20, and Noah Wood, 17, to Towne Oaks North apartments after the trio made plans to steal marijuana from a residence there, according to police reports.
Wood was killed in the foiled robbery.
Acles was held Thursday in the Gregg County Jail on a charge of aggravated robbery.
A fourth person made arrangements for weapons to use in the robbery, according to the statement Acles gave police.
Acles told officers that Ward and Wood got into his vehicle and told him to drive them to the apartment complex.
Acles' girlfriend also was in the vehicle, and the two waited in the car while Ward and Wood proceeded with the robbery, according to police reports.
Ward confessed to police earlier this week that the robbery was his idea and that he went into the unit armed with a TASER. Wood was wearing brass knuckles.
According to police reports, the TASER belonged to Acles.
Acles and his girlfriend drove to a nearby gas station about five minutes after Ward and Wood got out of the car.
Acles told investigators a "nervous" Ward approached his vehicle at the gas station and got in, telling him, "Let's go; I believe Noah has been shot," according to police reports.
At that point, Acles said he saw police and an ambulance drive down Eastman Road.
Acles said he dropped Ward off at an apartment complex on Gilmer Road, where Ward said he was to meet his girlfriend.
LPD officials said Wood was fatally shot with a rifle.
Longview police spokeswoman Kristie Brian said Wood was shot by a man who was in a back bedroom of the apartment.
