Feb. 16, 2012 at 3:15 a.m.
The Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at Northeast Texas Community College will host the Masters of Motown on Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m.
"This is sure to be a fun, upbeat evening that will have everyone singing along. This group does an excellent job of recreating some of the best-loved songs from the 1960s and we are excited to host them at the Whatley Center," Carolyn Franks, Whatley Center director, said.
In the early 60's some of the most iconic names in the history of popular music were discovered in the Motor City, better known simply as Motown. Masters of Motown is a celebration of these artists, their music and their style. The show features stylishly costumed, fully choreographed tributes to both male and female groups of the era.
The audience will take the ultimate stroll down memory lane as they relive the incredible harmonies made famous by many of the greatest recording acts of all-time, including The Temptations, Gladys Knight & The Pips, Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, The Four Tops, Diana Ross & The Supremes, The Jackson Five, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, Stevie Wonder, The Commodores and many more.
The show is sponsored by Cypress Bank. Reservations are recommended by calling the Whatley Center box office at 903-434-8181; limited tickets will be available at the door. For more information, visit www. ntcc.edu/whatley.
