A recent report shows the Longview area was among the top five spots in Texas this past year where motorists were issued the most tickets by Department of Public Safety troopers.
Compiled by WOAI-TV San Antonio reporter Brian Collister and Texas Watchdog analyst Jennifer Peebles, the list ranked areas based on the number of tickets issued in 2011 by the DPS.
Longview trailed the Rio Grande Valley, Houston, Dallas and Austin. The most active spot in the area was a section that includes a big chunk of Gregg County, the northwest corner of Rusk County and a small eastern portion of Smith County.
The area with the highest concentration of citations this past year - 6,128 - was within 10 miles of Rolling Meadows, a community on FM 2087 between Longview and Kilgore. The area includes sections of Interstate 20, U.S. 259, Texas 149, Texas 42 and Texas 31.
