Pump Jacks' Taylor sets TCL record

ALEXANDRIA, La. - The East Texas Pump Jacks' 11-6 win in Alexandria on Monday night made history for their fourth-year coach.
East Texas gave Ben Taylor his 101st Texas Collegiate League win, making him the winningest coach in league history with a 101-56-1 record. Whitt Dorsey's three-hit evening included two doubles and three RBIs, and Louie Helmburg added a two-run double as the Pump Jacks (3-0) remained unbeaten.
East Texas' Logan Davis and Taylor Murphy had an RBI apiece, while Davis and Colton Bickerstaff registered two hits each. Bickerstaff and Kevin O'Leary each had one of the Pump Jacks' five doubles.
East Texas scored six first-inning runs and led 8-0 after three innings. Alexandria (1-2) scored four sixth-inning runs, but East Texas held off the Aces and led 11-4 entering the ninth.
Kyle Kubat got the win on the mound. Kubat allowed three earned runs on five hits with six strikeouts and three walks in 5 1/3 innings. Braden Strickland allowed one earned run in 1 2/3 innings, and Payton Smith yielded one earned run in two innings.
Alexandria's Jacob Rodrigue lasted 1/3 inning. He allowed five earned runs as part of East Texas' six-run first.
East Texas takes off today before hosting McKinney at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday.
