Upshur County GOP chairman challenging primary election results

GILMER - Upshur County GOP Chairman Ken Ambrose is challenging the outcome of the primary election, according to a case his attorney filed with the district clerk's office.

Ambrose is seeking a temporary injunction against Cynthia Ridgeway and Chuck Mears because, he alleges, some voters in Pct. 1 were denied their right to vote because their voter registration cards named the wrong precinct.

Tim Barnett, a candidate for Pct. 1 constable, said in an affidavit the voter registrar's office told him there could have been 178 voters with incorrect information on their cards.

Barnett lost his election to Gene Dolle by 148 votes, while Ambrose missed a runoff election by 61 votes.
