Van Zandt County Primary Election Results
June 7, 2012 at 10 p.m.
Van Zandt County voter turnout resulted in three republican candidate runoffs. The Sheriff's race and Commissioner races in Precint No. 1 and Precinct No. 3 all resulted in runoffs.
In the Sheriff's race Lindsey Ray led with 44.81 percent, 3,383 votes. Incumbent R.P. "Pat" Burnett finished second with 37.29 percent, 2,815 votes. David Wiley finished with 17.90 percent, 1,351 votes. Burnett and Ray will have a runoff.
Democratic candidate Deborah Davis received 363 votes.
Brandon Brown led the Commissioner Pct. No. 1 race with 44.86 percent, 851 votes. Tony Miller finished second with 35.48 percent, 673 votes. Albert Willingham finished with 19.66 percent, 373 votes. Brown and Miller will have a runoff.
Democratic candidate O.D. Hazel received 91 votes.
In the County Commissioner Pct. No. 3 race Bobby Chaney and Ronnie Cavin will have a runoff. Chaney received 38.92 percent, 643 votes. Cavin finished second with 27 percent, 446 votes. Kelles Miller received 20.10 percent, 332 votes and Duanne Harvey finished with 13.98 percent, 231 votes.
Shirley Chisham won the County Tax Assesssor-Collector race with 66.28 percent, 4,800 votes. Incumbent JJ Minyard finished with 33.72 percent, 2,442 votes.
Precinct No. 1 Constable Mickey Henson will keep his position. He beat challenger James Corley. Henson received 64.75 percent, 1,192 votes. Corley received 35.25 percent, 649 votes.
Incumbent Pat Jordan won the Constable Pct. 4 race with 62.86 percent, 1,273 votes. Challenger Eric Whitaker received 37.14 percent, 752 votes.
Incumbent C.B. Wiley won the Constable Pct. 2 race with 65.24 percent, 1,124 votes. Challenger Jesse Ison received 34.76 percent, 599 votes.
Incumbent Dan Flynn won the State Representative, District 2 race with 67.49 percent, 4,764 votes. Challenger George Alexander received 32.51 percent, 2,296 votes.
