Upshur County officials are seeking information regarding cattle theft.
Capt. Gary Roberts said the sheriff's office and a special ranger with the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers are investigating the theft of 15 head of mix-breed steers stolen from a rancher in the northeastern Upshur County.
The theft occurred between Feb. 27 and 28, Roberts said.
He said the rustlers entered the property and penned and loaded the cattle into a gooseneck-style trailer.
The cattle are branded with the letter "W" over a bar on the left hip and have a double under bit mark in the right ear (two notches cut out of the lower part of the ear), he said.
The Upshur County Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest of the people responsible for the theft. Anyone with information can call (903) 843-3131 or enter tip information online at upshurcounty.crimestoppersweb.com.
Information can be given anonymously; Crime Stoppers does not require a name.
