The Boy Scouts of America is preparing for its annual Scouting for Food drive the week of Nov. 10 - 17 and it will span 17 counties, including Wood.
On Saturday, Nov. 10 thousands of Scouts will fan out across East Texas to distribute collection bags to the majority of households. Scouts will return the following Saturday, Nov. 17, to collect filled bags and take them to central collection points.
A press release from the organization says the East Texas Food Bank states 428,000 East Texans are at risk of hunger. The Scouts help supply some of the food that local food banks deliver to families in need in our communities.
