Does this make it look easy? Do you think you've got award-winning pumpkin-carving skills? Then enter the News-Journal's Great Jack-o'-Lantern Contest and see how you stack up against other East Texas gourd artisans.

You'll get to see your jack-o'-lantern professionally photographed and displayed on our website and in the newspaper, and you may be named the king or queen of pumpkins for 2012! Here's how:

Plan to carve your pumpkin so you can bring it to the News-Journal offices at 320 N. Methvin St. from 9 a.m. to noon the morning of Oct. 20.

Pumpkins will be photographed, and the photos posted to for reader voting beginning Oct. 22. Online voting will continue through Oct. 26.

Your jack-o'-lantern will be available to be picked up beginning Oct. 22 so you can display it at home.

Halloween is Oct. 31, and we will publish photos of the second- and first-runners up in our Oct. 29 and 30 editions. The photo of the winning pumpkin will be published in our print edition the morning of Halloween.

A completed entry form, which will be printed regularly in the News-Journal beginning Monday or can be downloaded by clicking here, must accompany each entry. Pumpkins without entry forms attached will not be accepted.

Here's what you'll need to be ready to tell us on the form:

Jack-o'-lantern name.

Entrant's name.

Entrant's mailing address.

Daytime phone number and cell phone number.

Email address.

And, keep watching the News-Journal for more information on prizes.

Most importantly, have a gourd, er, good time!
