Health digest: LeTourneau health fair today, more

<strong>LeTourneau health fair</strong>
LeTourneau University's annual Get it Together health fair will be 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the Solheim Arena on the LeTourneau University campus, 2100 Mobberly Ave.
The event is free and open to the public.
Good Shepherd Medical Center will provide free medical lab tests that include complete lipid profiles and glucose testing. New this year is the The Kidney Trust, which will provide serum kidney function tests and consultations.
More than 70 businesses and health care professionals will set up in the Solheim Arena. Participants can save hundreds of healthcare dollars on assessments and education. Door prizes also will be given away every few minutes.
<strong>Breast cancer seminar</strong>
A free seminar titled "Breast Cancer: Do You Know Your Personal Risk Factors?" is set for 6 p.m. today at the Potpourri House, 3320 Troup Highway in Tyler.
The "Dine with our Doctors" seminar is sponsored by The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler and will include a free dinner.
With more than 20 years of experience in breast cancer research and treatment, presenter Dr. Edward Sauter will provide tips for people to better understand their personal risk factors and how to lower them.
The seminar is free but seating is limited. For reservations, call (903) 877-7147.
The North East Texas Macular Degeneration Support group will meet 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday in the Friendship Room at Buckner Westminister Place, 2201 Horseshoe Lane.
Delyla Blackburn with Ark-La-Tex Retina Consultants is the scheduled speaker and will discuss macular degeneration and treatment. For information, call (903) 753-4164.
The monthly Big Sandy Alzheimer's Caregivers Support Group meeting is at 1 p.m. Friday in the Big Sandy Community Center, 107 Gilmer St.

Also, the monthly Longview Alzheimer's Support Group meeting will be at 1 p.m. Oct. 30 in the Friendship Room at Greggton United Methodist Church, 1101 Pine Tree Road.

<strong>Cancer support group</strong>
Texas Oncology holds a cancer support group for patients, caregivers and family members from noon to 1 p.m. the first and third Thursdays of each month at 1300 N. Fourth St.

<strong>Drug addiction help</strong>
The Living Recovery Group of Narcotics Anonymous meets at 12:15 and 8 p.m daily at 3713 W. Marshall Ave. There is also a Friday session at 11 p.m. and a Saturday session at 10 a.m.
The group also holds weekly meetings for family members of addicts. For information, call (903) 812-3937.
Also, New Attitudes Narcotics Anonymous meets at 7 p.m. nightly at Inspiration House, 734 S. Green St.
Unforgettable Tuesdays Day Club meets each Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Greggton United Methodist Church in Longview.
This is a social club with special programming for people diagnosed with dementia. Pre-registration is required.

<strong>Cancer survivor support</strong>
Women Survivors Supporting Survivors - the S3 Support Group - is for women with any type of cancer. S3 Support meets the first Monday of each month from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in The Hub at Pine Tree Church of Christ, 33221 Dundee Road.
