Quitman Bulldogs run over Kemp Yellowjackets

The Quitman Bulldogs welcomed the Kemp Yellowjackets to Bud Moody Stadium Friday night with both teams desperately needing a win.
Quitman would get the ball first and on a fourth down and six, Vonterias "Von Von" Sessions broke through the defense for a 52 yard touchdown run that saw Dyess Gardener and Will Miller pick up key blocks.
Jesus "Chuy" Ramirez would kick the extra point and with 10:11 left in the 1st quarter Quitman had a 7-0 lead.
Kemp would return the favor and drive straight down field for a touchdown despite aggressive defensive play from Seniors Ethan Callahan and Eli Click.
With the score tied at 7-7, Quitman would mount a 14 play drive that ended with Joel Cameron sneaking through for a one yard touchdown.
Cameron would find Ramirez open in the end zone for the two point conversion and Quitman would retake the lead at 15-7.
Kemp took possession of the ball leading into the second quarter and on a 1st and 10 Jacob Hurley recovered a Kemp fumble to give the ball back to Quitman.
Quitman continued to pound the ball with hard runs from Sessions and Ramirez and on a third down and two Bobby Wells would through the block to free up Sessions for a 32 yard touchdown run coupled with a Ramirez extra point and Quitman took a 22-7 halftime lead.
Kemp would obtain the ball first in the third quarter where they mount a five minute drive that ended in a touchdown to bring the score to 22-14 Quitman.
The Bulldogs countered the Kemp drive with a six minute drive of their own highlighted by a Sessions nine-yard touchdown run and a Ramirez extra point to make the score 29-14 Quitman.
Kemp would not go away and would score on a 60 yard touchdown pass on their next possession to make the score 29-21 Quitman.
The Quitman offense controlled the clock in the fourth quarter with a five minute drive that ended with a 22-yard field goal by Ramirez to make the score 32-21 Quitman.
Senior Austin White would make the play that sealed the deal for the Bulldogs as he intercepted a Kemp pass to close the game out in a 32-21 win for Quitman.
The Bulldogs will travel to Malakoff to take on the Tigers Friday night where they will need a win to have any chance of making the playoffs. The game is to begin at 7:30 pm.
