The Board of Trustees for the Spring Hill Independent School District has voted not to extend the contract for Superintendent Wes Jones.

The 4-3 vote came after a lengthy executive session, said Board President Claudine Giffin. The Monday meeting began at 6 p.m. and lasted until after 11 p.m.

Board members voting against extending Jones' contract were Giffin, Traci Wallis, Mark White and Karen Wright. Those who wanted to extend it were John Borens, Dr.Will Hollas and Walt Irwin.

Jones' current contract with the district extends to July of 2015. Most superintendents in Texas operate under a three-year contract. There is a possibility that the board could extend his contract at a later time.
