KILGORE - Kilgore College's first softball season, as expected, produced a lot of firsts on the field.
On Tuesday, the KC softball program produced a first off the field when six sophomores signed letters-of-intent to continue their careers at the next level.
Three players - Jessica Simon of Hallsville, Heather Bunn of Hugo, Okla. and Kaitlyn Hipsher of Canton - signed with Louisiana State University-Alexandria.
Also signing on Tuesday were Overton's Molly Mackey with the University of Louisiana-Monroe, Tricia Hock of Brazoria with Henderson State and Laura Martinez of Rosenberg with the University of Houston-Victoria.
"This group chose to come to Kilgore College," coach Leslie Messina said. "They all had other options, but chose to come here and be a part of starting a program ... to be a part of something bigger than themselves."
Kilgore finished its inaugural campaign with a 20-34 record overall and an 8-12 record in the Region XIV Conference.
