Longview junior defensive tackle Zaycoven Henderson got some good and bad recruiting news on Tuesday.
Henderson got the positive news when he picked up invites to Texas A&M's junior day on March 2 and the Rivals/Under Armour Combine on March 17. But he also learned that <a href="http://www.news-journal.com/etvarsity/high_school/longview-s-henderson-declares-ou-early-favorite/article_5694f746-75af-11e2-aae2-001a4bcf887a.html" target="_blank">early favorite Oklahoma</a> fired defensive line coach Jackie Shipp.
The 6-foot-3, 276-pounder has offers from Oklahoma, TCU and Baylor. He was not a fan of OU's decision to fire Shipp, who he met with on his Feb. 2 junior day visit.
"That really just changed my mind was looking forward to going to Oklahoma with coach Shipp as my coach," <a href="https://twitter.com/Zaycoven/status/301575821456461825" target="_blank">Henderson tweeted late Tuesday night</a>.
Henderson and Lobos junior receiver Dorian Leonard will attend the Rivals combine in Cedar Hill. The top performers have an opportunity to be invited to a national combine in Atlanta.
Henderson said he planned to make the junior day trip to A&M and would also likely attend TCU's on Feb. 24. He also has invitations from SMU (Feb. 16), Texas and Texas Tech (both Feb. 23).
