One person was killed this morning in Panola County when the car they were driving hit the side a tractor-trailer that failed to stop at a stop sign.
Justice of the Peace David Gray pronounced Mona Guilbeau, from the Old Center community, dead at the scene after the crash at the intersection of FM 2517 and FM 699, southeast of Carthage. Guilbeau was driving a red Chevy Impala north on FM 699 when, witnesses say, the driver of the tractor-trailer was traveling westbound on FM 2517 and failed to stop.
Guilbeau was a longtime employee of Carthage ISD.
