Pump Jacks make it six straight wins

THE WOODLANDS – Joey Armstrong put the Pump Jacks in front to stay with his second home run of the season, and Mitch Meyer padded the lead with an RBI double in the ninth as East Texas ran its winning streak to six in a row with a 6-3 Texas Collegiate League win over The Woodlands Strykers on Thursday.
The win moved the Pump Jacks to 16-15 on the season and 1-0 in the second half.
East Texas took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second when Beau Day and Zach Jones hit back-to-back singles and Wes Edrington followed with an RBI double.
J.J. Robinson's two-out double off the wall in the top of the third scored Mark Mathias to give East Texas a 2-0 lead, but the Strykers used three errors to score three runs in the bottom of the third.
The visiting Pump Jacks took the lead for good in the top of the seventh when Brooks Marlow led off with a single and Armstrong followed with a two-run blast for a 4-3 lead. Marlow again got things started in the ninth when he struck out but reached on a wild pitch and scored on Meyer's double.
Meyer hustled to third on the throw home and scored on a wild pitch.
The teams meet again at 7:05 tonight. East Texas will then visit the Texas Marshals for games on Saturday and Sunday.
