Hallsville's Ronnie Gideon and Carlisle's Gunner Baker picked up more awards to add to their high school resumes on Tuesday with the release of the 2013 Louisville Slugger All-America Team before both head off to play in college.
Gideon was named a first-team infielder while Baker picked up a first-team selection as a multi-position player.
Hallsville junior Connor Reich was named a second-team pitcher. Reich finished 10-2 on the mound with 143 strikeouts.
Gideon - who is set to take the field with Texas A&M after being drafted in the 35th round by the Colorado Rockies - finished his high school career with another .400 year at the plate as Hallsville reached the regional quarterfinal round. The hard-hitting Gideon finished with more than 35 RBIs and was walked 41 times in his senior campaign.
The first-team selection is the second major accomplishment for Hill College-bound Baker in June after the senior helped Carlisle to its first state championship in school history.
Baker finished 14-0 with 178 strikeouts and a 0.24 ERA on the mound to complement a .446 batting average.
Both Baker and Gideon were named to the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association All-Star teams.
