A man was arrested Tuesday after police said he fired two shots from his vehicle toward another vehicle in South Longview.
Tereso Cruz Chavez, 44, who is listed as having a Longview address, circled the 900 block of 14th Street before firing at three people sitting in a parked vehicle, according to police reports.
Chavez drove away west on Ridgelea Avenue, where he wrecked his vehicle in a ditch, reports showed. Chavez then got out of his vehicle and officers found him a short time later hiding in a backyard on 13th Street.
Officers found a gun on the floorboard of the Chevy Aveo Chavez was driving that resembled a firearm described by witnesses, according to police reports.
Chavez was being held in the Gregg County Jail on a $10,000 bond charged with deadly conduct discharging a firearm.
Chavez also was being held on an immigration detainer.
