A trio of players from Kilgore College's Region XIV Conference championship team are moving on to four-year schools.
Quinton Upshur, Chinedu Amajoyi and Maurice Taylor, who helped lead the Rangers to a regular season conference title and the program's first trip to the NJCAA National Tournament since the 1993-94 season, signed national letters-of-intent on Monday to play at the next level.
Upshur signed with Northern Arizona University, Amajoyi with the University of Louisiana-Monroe and Taylor with Bethune-Cookman.
Upshur, a Norfolk, Va. native, played in all 33 games this past season and started 29. He averaged 13.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.3 blocks, 1.8 steals and 2.0 assists.
Amajoyi (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) played in all 33 games and started 26 for the Rangers. He averaged 5.9 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists.
Taylor (Toledo, Ohio) started nine games and played in 32. He averaged 8.5 points, 1.2 assists and 3.1 rebounds.
Kilgore finished with a 27-6 record overall and a 15-4 mark in the Region XIV Conference. KC went 1-1 at the regional tournament, but had already claimed a berth in the NJCAA National Tournament based on its regular season conference title.
The Rangers opened the national tournament with an 80-58 win over Shelton State, but was eliminated with a 53-51 loss to Spartenburg Methodist.
