No. 1 Gilmer (9-0, 5-0) vs. No. 3 Kilgore (8-0, 5-0)

7:30 tonight, R.E. St. John Stadium, Kilgore

Coaches

Gilmer: Jeff Traylor

Kilgore: Mike Wood

Last Week: Gilmer 62, Bullard 0; Kilgore 63, Henderson 10

Players To Watch

Gilmer: QB Tanner Barr (141-193, 2349 yards, 29 TDs; 73 carries, 373 yards, TD) ... RB Kris Boyd (86 carries, 1023 yards, 16 TDs) ... RB Jamel Jackson (46 carries, 335 yards, 7 TDs) ... RB Darrian Lewis (45 carries, 416 yards, 7 TDs) ... WR Desmond Pollard (33 catches, 726 yards, 10 TDs) ... WR Jaidon Parrish (28 catches, 408 yards, 2 TDs) ... WR Chase Tate (22 catches, 401 yards, 5 TDs) ... WR Nick Smith (17 catches, 242 yards, 4 TDs) ... OL Mitch Lange

Kilgore: DL Ladarrin Anthony (55 tackles, 5 TFL, 6 sacks, 3 FF. 18 hurries) ... LB Jake Brantley (68 tackles, 3 TFL, 2 sacks, 3 INTs, 3 FR) ... DB Aaron Foy (17 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 INTs) ... DB Jeffrey Sanders (42 tackles, 2 TFL, 2 INTs) ... DB Chad Bornes (29 tackles, 5 sacks) ... DB Joseph Shepherd (30 tackles, TFL, INT, 7 PBUs) ... DL Kris Haynes (76 tackles, TFL, sack, INT)

Keys: The Buckeyes come in having scoring 50-plus points in every game this season (60.2 points per game average) but it's safe to say that top-ranked Gilmer hasn't seen a defense like the one that will be waiting in Kilgore -- one that has allowed just 94 points all season. Barr has an arsenal around him, having thrown at least two scoring passes to seven different receivers to go along with the backs Boyd, Jackson and Lewis. Matching Gilmer step-for-step offensively will be a tall task for most defenses and a key will be the for the Bulldogs to keep Barr and company off the field. Kilgore's secondary has combined for 11 interceptions and 17 PBUs and held opponents to 1219 passing yards this season.

Players To Watch

Kilgore: RB Kevrin Justice (96 carries, 1010 yards, 20 TDs) ... RB JuJu Brown (83 carries, 688 yards, 9 TDs) ... ATH Aaron Foy (13 carries, 238 yards, 2 TDs; 6 catches, 269 yards, 3 TDs) ... QB Benny Colbert (15-28, 377 yards, 6 TDs; 40 carries, 159 yards, 3 TDs)

Gilmer: DL Demarco Boyd (42 tackles, 4 FF, 2 FR, 6 sacks, 10 TFL, 8 pressures) ... LB John McPhearson (66 tackles, FF, INT, 8 pressures) ... DB Kris Boyd (25 tackles, 2 PBUs, 3 FF, FR) ... DB Blevin Burns (32 tackles, 2 PBUs, FR, INT) ... DL Darrian Lewis (57 tackles, 2 FF, sack, def. TD)

Keys: Establishing the run game and controlling the clock will be big when the Bulldogs have the ball. Justice has emerged as the go-to for the Bulldogs on the ground and winning in the trenches will be big for the Bulldogs.

Did You Know: Gilmer beat Kilgore, 20-14, at Buckeye Stadium in 2012, breaking up a fourth-and-goal pass at the Buckeye five-yard line with less than a minute remaining to claim the district title ... While the championship is to be decided, Gilmer will enter the postseason as the D-II No. 1 seed and will face either Canton or Mineola at 7:30, Thursday, Nov. 14 at Rose Stadium in Tyler.
